  • Dr Karl W Baumgart
    Dr Baumgart’s practice is based at North Shore Medical Centre and Wahroonga Specialist Centre. His practice provides both paediatric and adult care. He has clinical appointments at Sydney Adventist Hospital and the Mater Hospital. ​ Qualifications: BSc (Med), MBBS, PhD (University of Sydney); FRACP; FRCPA ​ Specialty: Allergy, Clinical Immunology, Immunopathology ​ After graduating from the University of Sydney, Dr Baumgart trained in Clinical Immunology and Allergy at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He undertook research into the immunology of leprosy and tuberculosis and obtained his PhD in 1996. He supervised immunopathology and related areas of testing in private pathology practices for four years before joining Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology in 1997. Dr Baumgart is a Consultant Physician in Clinical Immunology and Allergy. His clinical practice since 1992 includes paediatric and adult Allergy and Immunology. He admits and consults on inpatients at Sydney Adventist Hospital and the Mater Hospital. Having worked as a General Internal Medicine Physician at Manly Hospital, including as Head of the Department of Medicine for ten years, he retains a broad general internal medicine perspective. He has also had clinical appointments at Manly and Mona Vale Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital.​ In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Baumgart is an Immunopathologist and Director of Immunopathology at Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology. He has had other roles in the laboratory including establishing its molecular biology and molecular genetics laboratories (eg. DNA relationship testing, tissue typing, periodic fever testing, hereditary angioedema testing and pharmacogenetics), as well as assisting in Sonic Clinical Trials, and providing pathologist oversight for branch laboratories on Sydney’s northern beaches. He has acted as a supervisor for four genetic pathology registrars. His laboratory career has been dedicated to delivering new, pragmatic, clinically useful diagnostic support for people with inflammatory, autoimmune and allergic disorders. He continues to have interests in applied clinical research areas of allergy. Dr Baumgart remains active on the Council of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (www.allergy.org.au), and served as its President in 2005-2006. He has organised an ASCIA Annual Scientific Meeting and regularly attends national and international Allergy and Immunology conferences. He is an active member of the Ku-Ring-Gai District Medical Association and convenes an "Annual KDMA Looong Weekend Conference" for family physicians and a range of medical and surgical specialities. He is a member of the Australian Medical Association.
  • Dr Andrew J Broadfoot
    Qualifications: MBBS (University of Adelaide); FRACP; FRCPA Specialty: Clinical Immunology, Allergy, Immunopathology Dr Broadfoot graduated from the University of Adelaide (MBBS) in 1991. He underwent postgraduate training in Clinical Immunology, Allergy and Immunopathology at Royal Adelaide Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. From 2004-2008, he worked as a staff specialist Clinical Immunologist at Liverpool Hospital. Dr Broadfoot is currently a Visiting Medical Officer at Sydney Adventist Hospital, and an Immunopathologist at Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology. His interests include drug allergy, immunotherapy for allergic conditions, anaphylaxis and immunodeficiency. He also conducts higher risk allergy challenges at the Sydney Adventist Hospital Emergency Department fortnightly for selected patients, when rooms based challenges are not appropriate. He is a Member of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (allergy.org.au), Australian Medical Association and Australian Association of Consultant Physicians.
  • Dr Jocelyn X Jiang
    Qualifications: MBBS Hons (I), M.Med (Clin Epi) (Monash University); FRACP; FRCPA Specialty: Clinical Immunology, Allergy, Immunopathology After completing her medical degrees with First Class Honours at Monash University, Dr Jiang completed postgraduate training in Immunopathology and Clinical Immunology at Canberra and Westmead Hospitals. Dr Jiang is also a staff specialist at Blacktown Hospital and an Immunopathologist with Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology. Dr Jiang has clinical interests in all aspects of immunology and allergy, with active research interests in autoimmune neurologic diseases.
  • Dr Pei Dai
    Qualifications: BScMed(Hon), MBBS (UNSW); FRACP, FRCPA Specialty: Clinical Immunology, Allergy, Immunopathology Dr Dai obtained his medical degree from University of New South Wales in 2010. He underwent postgraduate training in Clinical Immunology, Allergy and Immunopathology at Westmead and St Vincent’s Hospitals in Sydney. Between 2020 and 2022, he was a research fellow at St Vincent’s Hospital and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where he was the inaugural recipient of the David Cooper Research Fellowship. During this time, he also completed additional training in molecular genetics and is now one of the few immunologists in Australia qualified to supervise genomic testing with next generation sequencing. He is currently a staff specialist at Nepean Hospital and completing a PhD in whole genome sequencing analysis of patients with inborn errors of immunity.
